First Aid at Work – Re-qualification Course

The two-day first aid at work requalification training course fulfils the requirements for the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations for first aiders requiring to renew their qualification at the 3-year point.

Topics covered

The qualification renews the learners knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED and assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness such as chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis.

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration, oral questioning and multi-choice question paper.

Certification

Students are required to hold a current in-date FAW certificate at the start of their requalification training.

Successful students will be awarded the relevant QNUK L 3 Award in First Aid at Work certificate, that again is valid for a further 3 years.

Under the current guidelines it is ”strongly recommended” that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every 12 months – before completing full re-qualification training at the three year point.
