Adult and Paediatric First Aid Instructor

The competency required to become a professional First Aid Trainer/Assessor is clearly defined by the HSE:
Trainers/assessors should have knowledge and competence in first aid, as demonstrated by: Holding a current, valid FAW certificate (or being exempt – namely registered Dr. Nurse or Paramedic), and having knowledge and competence in training and/or assessing, demonstrated by holding a training/ assessing qualification. From October 2015 you will be required to also hold a formal, generic Teaching and Assessing qualification. The most common option to meet this requirement is the Level 3 Award in Education & Teaching (L3 EAT) with the unit “Principles and Practice of Assessment”. Other qualifications are accepted; please see the latest guidance for a matrix of other acceptable

Who should attend?

Those wishing to become first aid instructors who would benefit from a course which concentrates purely on the delivery of first aid. 
Course outline
  • In-depth first aid knowledge-designed to give students the extra knowledge to enable them to train adult and paediatric first aid effectively, and train others in the use of the AED
  • Teaching and training practice

Pre-requisites

Students must be aged 18 years plus with level 3 literacy skills at the course start date and hold a formally recognised teaching and training qualification. A list of HSE accepted teaching and training qualifications can be viewed below.

Certification and assessments

Students are assessed for this qualification using the following methods:

  • Practical observations including teaching practices
  • All delegates are assessed for First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid and Defibrillator Operator while on this course, giving 3 years certification from Qualifications Network United Kingdom or Highfield along with Remote First Aid Training certification.

5 days (08.30 to 17.30 each day)

Students joining us will be charged £499.99 per person fully inclusive of the above, light beverages and light lunch. Alternatively we can deliver this course at your UK venue for groups of up to 12 delegates for £3999.99.

It is recommend that delegates familiarise themselves with the following legalisation and guidance relating to workplace and early years first aid provision below, this will develop a delegates knowledge and understanding of the regulatory requirements placed on employers, employees and first aid training instructors.
