Successfully completing this nationally recognised forest schools first aid training course, will validate ALL Forest School Practitioner qualifications in the UK. This qualification which is regulated by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations in England, the Welsh Government Regulator Qualification in Wales and the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment in Northern Ireland also meets the IOL Band 4 statement of good practice for forest schools first aid for their registered practitioners. The course fee includes on-site wilderness camping at our forest school training venue.

Course syllabus

Successful candidates will be able to:

  • Manage an incident in a outdoor forest schools setting,
  • provide first aid to an unresponsive breathing casualty,
  • provide first aid to an unresponsive not breathing normally casualty,
  • provide first aid to a choking casualty,
  • provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding,
  • provide first aid to a casualty in shock,
  • provide first aid to a casualty affected by water immersion,
  • conduct a secondary survey,
  • provide first aid to a casualty suffering bone, joint & muscle injuries,
  • provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head, neck and back injuries,
  • administer first aid to a casualty with conditions effecting the eyes, ears and nose,
  • administer first aid to a casualty suffering with a suspected major illness,
  • provide first aid to those suffering from heat or cold related injuries,
  • administer & provide first aid to those affected by electric shock including lightening strikes,
  • provide first aid for burns and scalds,
  • provide first aid to a child that has been poisoned and
  • provide first aid to a casualty suffering from an anaphylactic reaction.

Our trainers will provide realistic and authentic training giving students the highest level of training to Platinum Standards.

Who should attend?

This qualification fulfills the demands from the various forest schools councils and for the IOL’s forest schools registered practitioner. This qualification is ideal for all school staff involved in the delivery or assisting of forest school activities when working out of doors in the forest schools environment. This training is delivered by our subject experts in this field of teaching bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to your staff training and personal development.

Assessment & certification

To achieve this award learners are required to complete a number of practical examinations and complete a  multi-choice question paper. Learners must achieve a minimum of 70%  pass mark from the multi-choice paper and 100% in the practical elements.
