Administration of Emergency Oxygen

Who should attend?

This qualification is aimed at those working in health care settings who are required to administer Oxygen as part of their role. This includes, but is not limited to pre-hospital care providers. This is not a licence to practice qualification and employers should ensure they have full and rigorous Clinical Governance in place to be able to allow employees to administer medical gasses.


Candidates must be aged 18 years plus with level 2 literacy skills. Additionally candidates are required to hold a valid first aid qualification, such as first aid at work or outdoor first aid (16 hours)  or activity first aid (18 hours).

Assessment & certification

To achieve this award learners are required to complete a number of practical observations and complete a multi-choice question paper. They must achieve a minimum of 70% to pass mark from the multi-choice paper.
