First Aid at Work (Management of Catastrophic Bleeding)

This First aid at work (Management of Catastrophic Bleeding)  qualification is regulated by The Office of Qualifications and Examinations in England, the Welsh Government Regulator Qualification in Wales and the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment in Northern Ireland and fulfills the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations Northern Ireland 2017. Where an employers needs assessment has identified the requirement for First Aiders in the workplace where they are required with these additional skills.

This three-day course meets the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience, for example, clerical or engineering staff. The First Aid at Work Requalification course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions. By arrangement the course can be run on non-consecutive days, for example – one day a week over two weeks.

Assessment & certification

To achieve this award learners are required to complete a number of practical tests and sit a multi-choice exam paper. They must achieve a minimum of 70% to pass mark from the multi-choice paper.

Course duration

21 hours over 3 days initial course. At the 3 year point candidates can renew their qualification by attending the 2-day (14 hour) renewal course.
