Appointed Person

2 hour training course

This training course covering 3 modules and which is suitable for the appointed person. A certificate of attendance is issued to each person attending, which is valid for 3 years.

Where an employer’s assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement for an employer is to appoint a person to:

take charge when someone is injured or ill, including calling an ambulance if required;
look after the first aid equipment, e.g. restocking the first aid box.

Arrangements should be made for an Appointed Person to be available to undertake these duties at all times when people are at work.In the absence of the First Aider, employers must appoint a person for this purpose.It should be remembered that Appointed Persons are not First Aiders and should not attempt to give First Aid for which they have not been trained.
